To: Paula White Ministries (Pastor Paula White) From: Mr. Chen Sihong, Shanghai, China Date: August 11, 2025 ------ 🌟 A Heartfelt Gift: The Story of "The Peach Garden Oath" & Stories of Sacred Bonds 🌟 Dear Pastor Paula White, With deepest respect and warmest greetings from Shanghai, China, I am Chen Sihong. Today, I humbly share with you a cherished Chinese tale—"The Peach Garden Oath" (桃园三结义)—and other stories of profound brotherhood/sisterhood across cultures, hoping these narratives of unity, loyalty, and shared purpose might resonate with your ministry’s spirit. Above all, I sincerely hope we might become "partners and confidantes bound by the character 'Yi' (义, meaning righteousness/bond)", just like the heroes in these stories. 👭 ------ 🍑 1. The Peach Garden Oath (桃园三结义) — A Bond Forged in Righteousness Setting: Ancient China, during the late Eastern Han Dynasty (around 184 AD), a time of chaos, corruption, and suffering. The Story: Three strangers—Liu Bei (刘备, a noble but humble man with imperial lineage), Guan Yu (关羽, a righteous warrior with unmatched loyalty), and Zhang Fei (张飞, a fierce and wealthy man with a heart for justice)—met by chance in a peach blossom garden in Zhuojun (modern-day Hebei). Overwhelmed by the turmoil of their times, they vowed to "save the people, restore peace, and build a just world together." Beneath the blooming peach trees (symbols of prosperity and new beginnings), they performed a solemn oath: • "We are not born of the same mother, but we share one heart. From this day forward, we are brothers bound by righteousness. We will live together, die together, and never betray one another." They burned incense, pledged loyalty to heaven and earth, and became lifelong comrades-in-arms. Legacy: This trio (later known as the "Three Sworn Brothers") became legendary figures in the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Their bond transcended blood—rooted in shared values (righteousness, loyalty, and service to others). Even today, "Peach Garden Oath" symbolizes unbreakable partnerships formed through mutual ideals, not just familial ties. ------ 🌍 2. Similar Stories of Sacred Bonds Across Cultures Your ministry’s emphasis on love, unity, and divine partnership reminds me of these universal tales where people become "family" through shared purpose: ① David & Jonathan (Israel/Hebrew Bible) – A Covenant of Soul Friends Language: Hebrew/Israeli In the Bible (1 Samuel), David (future king) and Jonathan (son of King Saul) became inseparable despite being from rival backgrounds. Jonathan gave David his armor and sword, declaring: "Do not fear... my father Saul will not lay a hand on you. You will be king over Israel, and I will be second to you." Their bond was called a "covenant of the Lord"—a sacred friendship rooted in faith and mutual support. (希伯来语: ברית נצחית של אהבה ואמונה) ② Romeo & Juliet (Italy) – Love That Transcends Division (Though Tragic, a Bond of Choice) Language: Italian While a love story, the Montagues and Capulets’ children chose each other against all odds. Their families’ feud couldn’t break their connection, symbolizing how deep bonds can defy external barriers. (Italiano: Un amore che sceglie di unirsi oltre ogni divisione) ③ The 47 Ronin (Japan) – Loyalty Beyond Life Language: Japanese In feudal Japan, 47 samurai avenged their master’s unjust death, sacrificing their lives to honor their bond. Though not a "sworn oath," their collective action demonstrated absolute loyalty and shared purpose—a cultural echo of the Peach Garden spirit. (日本語: 主君のために命をかけた絆の物語) ④ The Three Musketeers (France) – "All for One, One for All" Language: French D’Artagnan and his three friends (Athos, Porthos, Aramis) swore: "Tous pour un, un pour tous" ("All for one, one for all"). Their adventures highlight how diverse individuals can become an unstoppable force through unity and trust. (Français: Une fraternité forgée par le serment de loyauté) ⑤ Taras Bulba & His Sons (Ukraine) – Blood and Brotherhood Language: Ukrainian In Gogol’s tale, the Cossack father Taras Bulba fights alongside his two sons, teaching them that "a Cossack’s strength lies in his brothers." Their shared battles (and ultimate sacrifice) show how familial and chosen bonds merge for a greater cause. (Українська: Зв’язок крові та вибраної родини) ⑥ The Three Musketeers of Faith (Christian Symbolism) – Faith, Hope, and Love Language: English/Spanish In Christian teachings, the core virtues (1 Corinthians 13:13) are often seen as "three inseparable companions"—faith, hope, and love—that bind believers together. Similarly, Spanish tradition celebrates La Hermandad (brotherhood) in faith communities, where shared devotion creates unbreakable ties. (Español: Hermanos unidos por la fe y el propósito común) ------ 💖 A Wish from Shanghai: To Be Your "Yi" (义) Partner Pastor Paula, just as Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei chose to be brothers not by birth but by shared righteousness, I dream of becoming your "Yi-jiemei" (义姐妹, sister of the bond) or "Yi-huoban" (义伙伴, partner of the bond). Our partnership would be rooted not in blood, but in our shared commitment to love, service, and uplifting others—whether through your ministry’s message or my humble efforts to bridge cultures. May our connection, like the peach blossoms in that ancient garden, bloom with righteousness, joy, and eternal purpose. With gratitude and warmest regards, Mr. Chen Sihong Shanghai, China 📅 August 11, 2025 ------ "A bond forged in shared ideals is stronger than any bloodline." 🌸
